Cultural Heritage of Portugal
Report from the mobility in Portugal
Participants have the opportunity to experience the cultural heritage of Portugal, focusing on the region where the host school is located. At first students will take photographs and notes, then make short videos of places and events they have participated in. The aim of activities within this LTT is to allow students to learn more about free video editing tools, edit their short videos of the Portuguese culture, and present their collaborative work in the video contest on the last day. All work is done in English as the project language.
DAY 1: Valença
All participants will be welcomed. Schools´ presentations on cultural heritages. CLIL lesson on movie editing / the video editor software – Openshot. Video contest. Visit to school premises, interaction, and cooperation activities. Workshop on the Portuguese language and poetry “Feeling Camões”. Lunch at school. Teachers´meeting. Presentation about the Valença in the past, present, and future. Eurocity Valença-Tui and the Portuguese Coastal way. Sightseeing and landmarks filming. Tour of the historical centre.
DAY 2: Educational trip to Viana do Castelo
Leaving school premises. Visit to the Gil Eannes hospital-ship / to the Interpretation Centre of the Portuguese Way of the Coast. Guided visit to the Costume Museum / Museu do Traje. Viana do Castelo Main Cathedral. Lift to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus / Mount of Santa Luzia. Part of the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela “The Portuguese Coastal Way” by bus. Bus stops at Vila Praia de Âncora.
DAY 3: Valença
9.15: Workshop on the basic concepts of a video editor software – Canva. Visit to an open-air market – Portuguese local products. Intercultural Lunch Party – local folklore, traditions, customs, music, dance, and
food. Getting to know traditional food and sweets, brought by partner schools.
DAY 4: Educational trip to Porto
8.30: Leaving school premises. Departure to Porto. The city of Porto. Sightseeing and landmarks filming. Starting point at the Riverside-Dom Luís Bridge. Guided visit to S. Francisco Church. Walk to the Stock Exchange Palace, passing through Rua das Flores. Visit to São Bento Station and to the oldest café in Portugal, Majestic Café. Porto City Hall – Avenue Aliados. Visit to the famous Lello Bookshop. Visit to the Clérigos Tower. Afterwards to the mural / Public Art - Joana Vasconcelos - Praça Guilherme Gomes Fernandes, Clérigos.
DAY 5: Eurocity Valença (Portugal)-Tui (Spain) Getting to know part of the Pilgrims' Route to Santiago de Compostela. Visit to the Cathedral of Tui (Spain). Workshop II - OpenShot Video Editing. Students start editing their final group video. Teachers’ coordinators meeting. Closing ceremony held in a local restaurant “Quinta de Wventos Stop II”- dinner, video contest and awards. Project evaluation. Farewell.
